Time to tap talent: When Social Inclusion Score is higher

A higher social inclusion score (SIS) than the industrial inclusion score (IIS) means there is an opportunity for companies to tap women talent in the top cities with an enabling social environment.

The recently-released Avtar’s Viewport 2022: Top Cities for Women in India throws light on the city inclusion score (CIS) of 111 cities across India—Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities. A composite of social and industrial inclusion scores (SIS and IIS), SIS addresses the external social environment including ease of living score, safety score, women’s representation rate, and women’s empowerment. IIS looks at inclusive organizations, inclusive industries, and career enablers.

When there is a higher SIS

In the list, there are cities with a high ranking on Social Inclusion Score and a low ranking for the Industrial Inclusion Score. The scores indicate that although the social environment is conducive for women with good quality of life, safety, etc. there is a dearth of inclusive industries, organizations, and enablers that operate in the city.

An opportunity for companies

It is time for organizations to realize the potential and opportunity lying dormant in these cities and step up to play a critical role to play in improving the city’s status of inclusion for women to thrive, complementing the existing social enablers.

The Viewport 2022: Top Cities for Women in India aims to:

  • Enrich women’s talent with necessary data to help them make informed career moves.
  • Enlighten cities by underlining gaps that emerge when placed against the top-ranking cities.
  • Establish key parameters that governments and organizations must concentrate upon to attract women’s talent.
