On February 10, over 700 girl students studying in government schools in different parts of India saw their dreams taking flight! More specifically, their dreams had a rocket launch.
AzaadiSat 2.0, which comprised 75 experiments, was part of the payload aboard the Indian Space Research Organisation’s SSLV-D2. It was successfully launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 9 am on February 10.
According to a report on moneycontrol.com, the students worked on the project for a 7-year-old aeronautical startup, Space Kidz India, based in Chennai. The students in the age group between 14 and 17 years of age learnt coding and programmed sensors that are designed to work in space.
The report also narrated the story of Vidya Gagare of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, who worked on the printed circuit boards along with other students. The PCBs were integrated with the satellite. Girl students from Anaiyur in Tamil Nadu, Secunderabad, Ladakh, and Sikkim were also involved in the project, said the report.
