E-commerce giant Amazon recently launched a special grant for underrepresented communities as part of its delivery service partner program in India.
In this program, Amazon will provide access to their delivery technology, train them and offer special deals in areas like payroll management, insurance, and recruitment technology, according to news reports.
The grant program is part of its $7 million commitment to supporting entrepreneurs in different ways. News reports also quoted a statement from the company that said that the grant was aimed at enabling different under-represented groups like women, persons with disability and people from the LGBTQIA+ community to take up entrepreneurship. The grant will serve as a financial boost to cover some of the startup costs of setting up the business.
The reports also said that at the moment, 350 entrepreneurs have been enrolled in the program.
Such programs have expanded the global network of delivery stations with over1000 stations in 14 countries like the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Japan, and India.
