PM bats for upskilling youth to drive growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the need to upskill youth as they hold the key to the economic progress of the country.

He said that upskilling the youth population would help avail of the opportunities in the country and enable India to reach the 3rd spot from the current 5th place.

News reports quoted him as saying in his address at the ‘Rozgar Mela’ held in Gujarat, “For the new opportunities being created in the country, we need to create skilled manpower on a large scale. India can achieve the target of becoming the third-largest economy only by skilling its youth.”

Avtar, India’s premier diversity, equity, and inclusion solutions firm, has been stressing the need for upskilling and reskilling for women to adapt to the changing dynamics of the job market.

About 66% of India’s population is under 35 years of age, making it home to the largest youth population in the world.
