Mapping Covid’s impact on organizational culture

Here are some trending patterns observed, which are, of course, a result of workplaces’ response to the pandemic.

As the fear regarding the pandemic’s impact has faded, the world has regained its former pace, establishing newer and improved norms of professional setting. Be it cultural or work-style changes, post-pandemic days have been exciting and beneficial for many, as companies seem to have accepted and encouraged the new norm. On that note, several trends are emerging from the post-pandemic days, with many advantages to working professionals.

2/3rd of employees to seek new jobs if forced back to the full-time model of working: ADP

A global survey by ADP covering 33,000 samples worldwide has reported that the employees actively seeking job change have risen from 15% to 23%. Leveraging the positive impact and challenges that the pandemic brought, the tight labor market is the advantage skilled employees have, given a hybrid working model more compatible than any other. The factors are ironically the aftereffects of the pandemic, like increased working hours, which were unpaid and stressful. These have compelled employees to set higher standards on the job front. The trend sparked by the pandemic has set new records of employee attrition and vacancies as firms struggle to fill in the gaps.

Positive impact on late-night hybrid workaholics: Wakefit

The largest sleep study in India by Wakefit, the Great Indian Sleep Scorecard 2022, in its 5th edition, draws interesting data on India’s sleep patterns and the impact of hybrid work on sleep. Released on World Sleep Day, the study covering 30,000+ responses collected from different Indian cities across various age groups and demographics draws insights on sleep trends and their impact on working professionals. The report indicates that the hybrid model has impacted Indian working professionals positively as the number of people feeling sleepy during working hours has reduced from 83% in 2020 (Pre-pandemic) to 48% in 2021. As the hybrid model of working allows flexibility to take intervals on regular basis, the study finds a marginal decrease in people staying up late at night. In contrast, interestingly, the hybrid model brings a positive impact on night owl professionals, whose productivity seems to have increased due to better sleep!

Flexibility and culture top priorities: Talent 500

The State of Talent survey by Talent 500 indicates striking trends that emerge in the post-pandemic world, where there are significant behavioral changes and expectations in job-seeking professionals. According to the survey, 87% of professionals are bound to scout for new job opportunities in 2022. As professionals prioritize non-fiscal aspects while choosing their employers, flexibility and culture seem to be the top priorities for people than compensation and benefits. A whopping 83% of respondents find flexibility a driving factor in accepting an offer. The survey records the top three drivers of job seekers as compensation (73%) work-life balance (58%), and work culture (55%). As the study reflects on the pertinent aspects that professionals are looking for in times of the ‘Great Reshuffle’, it is time for organizations to keep track of the trends for availing the best of what is available in the market!
