Volkswagen to open all-women outlet in Coimbatore

Automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has announced its first all-women outlet in Coimbatore.

According to news reports the store is part of the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion measures, and it aims to support women’s workforce participation.
News reports added that 35 women staff would be engaged in end-to-end, sales and after-sales operations at the outlet.

The Economic Times quoted Volkswagen Passenger Cars India Brand Director Ashish Gupta, as saying, “At Volkswagen, we strongly believe in the development of our ‘People’ and who other than women are the driving force of our business…it is our endeavor to champion women talent in the automotive workforce and promote diversity, inclusivity across the organization.”

A couple of weeks ago, Tata Motors opened its all-women showroom for passenger vehicles in Hyderabad— its first in South India.
Sources from Tata Motors said that the decision to launch the exclusive store was taken in tune with the changing market profile. The sources added that there was a drop in the average age of women consumers.
