Steelcase in India improves women’s workforce to 60%

Steelcase, a global leader in office furniture, has recently revealed that it has increased its women’s workforce to 60% in its Pune manufacturing plant.

News reports citing the success story of the manufacturing company said that the percentage of women went up by 50% from 10% in early 2021.

The reports added that they achieved the rise through ‘Women of Steel’ in its manufacturing plant in Pune. The initiative is aimed at supporting learning, development, and engagement to change the scenario in the domain, where fewer than one-third of manufacturing employees are women. The program has also improved the retention of women’s talent and offered a solid base for having women in leadership roles.

Women of Steel strives to change the ecosystem for women in the region with a cascading effect, offering opportunities and breaking down biases, said the reports.
