Legendary athlete PT Usha is set to become the president of the Indian Olympic Association. She will be the first woman to be appointed to the post!
After a stellar show by women athletes at the 2021 Olympics, here is another glorious moment for women sportspersons in India, with a woman being chosen for the top position for the first time.
According to reports, PT Usha was the only contender and she submitted her candidacy papers on November 27.
Also known as Payyoli Express, 58-year-old PT Usha is one of the most accomplished athletes from India and is considered the Golden Girl of athletics. Bagging 11 medals, including four gold, at the Asian Games between 1982 and 1994, she also won four gold medals at the Seoul Asian Games in 1986 in the 200m, 400m, 400 m hurdles, and 4x 400 relay. She also took home a silver in 100m.
