Lego launches a ‘diverse range of toys’

Lego has launched a new toy line of diverse characters, following a suggestion by a girl born with a disability.

Sofia, an 8-year-old from Sussex, England, was born without a left hand. She had written to the company saying that she felt underrepresented in the toys they manufactured.

Following her suggestion, the toy manufacturer has sprung into action through its latest range, representing the real world.

The latest range comprises toys with new skin tones, cultures, physical and non-visible disabilities, and neurodiversity, as per reports in the BBC.

“In the design team, when we see these letters that have been crafted so carefully by the children that write them, it’s really inspiring to us, and definitely makes us inspired to make a difference,” said a representative of Lego to the BBC.
