Google India on Tuesday rolled out the Google for Startups Accelerator Women Founders programme, which will have a cohort-based approach.
The programme addresses aspects like access to networks, funding, hiring challenges, and mentorship for the women founders due to lower representation in the field. Apart from Artificial Intelligence, the programme will also offer machine-based learning courses, alongside the opportunity to learn from women founders across the globe.
The first batch will comprise 20 startups that have either been founded or co-founded by women.
The accelerator programme by Google is an attempt by the tech giant to increase the representation of women in the digitally-trained workforce. These include measures and programmes related to upskilling and entrepreneurship and offering young graduates a head start.
According to reports, 2021 had more startups turning into unicorns- 42 of them. However, only 10% of these had women founders.
