Tech giant Google has added more parental leave days for its employees, increasing it to almost six months. The company also announced an increase in vacation time, focusing on overall well-being.
Recently, the company announced that it has increased parental leaves from 12 weeks to 18 weeks for all parents. Those who give birth will get 24 weeks of leaves, a rise from 18 weeks granted previously.
Another big move is the increase in vacation time from the existing paid vacation of 15 days to a minimum of 20 days starting April.
The measure is an attempt to prevent burnout among employees, especially at a time when remote working has become the norm.
The organization, a pioneer in employee benefits, has said that they want to provide extraordinary benefits to their employees.
News reports quoted an email sent as saying, “We want to support our employees at every stage of their lives and that means providing extraordinary benefits, so they can spend more time with their new baby, look after a sick loved one, or take care of their own wellbeing.”
“Today, we’re announcing increases to our global leave benefits to ensure that parents and caregivers have more time to spend with their families and loved ones, and to encourage all Googlers to take more time for themselves, too,” reports quoted the email.
