Batting for flexible working and work-from-home options, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared his vision for future workplaces.
PM Modi, who addressed the ‘National Conference of Labour Ministers of all States and Union Territories’ via video conference on Thursday, stressed that these options would increase women’s workforce participation. He added that industries must ‘change as per changing scenario’.
He also shared the vision of the government for Amrit Kal, adding, “The country is now changing, reforming, simplifying such labor laws,” he was quoted by news reports as saying. He also detailed the purpose of the labor codes, “This will ensure the empowerment of workers via minimum wages, job security, social security, and health security,” news reports added.
PM Modi also reiterated the Independence Day pledge and sought full participation from the nation’s women power. He added, “By making the right use of women’s power, India can achieve its goals faster.”
Flexible and work-from-home options have shown a positive impact on the nation’s workforce participation.
Avtar, which has been working towards increasing the number of women in the workforce for over two decades now, has been stressing the need for both. The gender analytics exercise Best Companies for Women in India in 2021 (BCWI) by Avtar and Seramount has revealed that flexible work structure at 100% continues to support women and that the pandemic-accelerated acceptance of remote work was offered by a whopping 97 percent.
