Diageo goes big on getting inclusive, releases ESG reporting index

Diageo India, a well-known beverage alcohol company, has released its maiden ESG reporting Index.

The environment, social, and governance reporting index also factors in efforts taken to make the business inclusive and conscious towards society.

According to the release discussed in news reports, Diageo is championing inclusion and diversity pivots. As it focuses on driving a positive impact across its business, partners, and communities, it also aims to celebrate diversity and shape a more tolerant society.

Some of the key initiatives in 2022 were:

Their ‘Learning for Life’ program is tailored to augment employment and livelihood opportunities for under-represented communities. 925 students (54% women) were trained through a National Skill Development Council (NSDC) certified program for the hospitality sector.

Over 50% of their CSR project beneficiaries were women. The initiative focuses on ensuring economic empowerment for the group.

Project Saksham provides employment and development support for people with disabilities. 42 people with disabilities across four manufacturing units are a part of this program.

This year, 48% of their new hires were women. They are aiming for 33% women representation within the organization and 50% in the leadership Team by 2025.

The policies and guidelines comprise the Family Leave Policy, Domestic & Family Abuse Guidelines, Prevention of Sexual Harassment, and Thriving Through Menopause.
