All-women pizza outlet to boost women’s workforce

Launching an all-women managed outlet in Gangtok, Sikkim, Pizza Hut, the renowned Pizza chain, has joined a growing list of companies taking measures to increase women’s workforce across sectors.

According to reports, the outlet will have 10 women in all roles, including the store manager, apart from them being in charge of food preparation and customer service. A majority of the staff are freshers, and they are being offered the opportunity to enter the workforce with a renowned brand.

The brand’s parent company Yum! Brands has been displaying its commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Pizza Hut is the latest in a growing list of brands in the food and beverage space to come up with all-women branches. KFC, a renowned fast-food chain, opened its latest all-women outlet in Hyderabad late last year. The first was launched some years ago in Darjeeling in West Bengal. Declaring it an initiative to boost gender parity and empower them at the grassroots, the chain has also provided an all-out women service team with women delivery executives.

Apart from the food industry, the manufacturing industry has been witnessing initiatives like the one by Ola with an all-women factory in Tamil Nadu, and Piaggio on the shop floor located in Baramati, Maharashtra.
