India’s youngest airline Akasa endeavours to boost the participation of women in its staff from 37% to 50%, striving towards gender diversity and inclusivity.
Akasa Air debuted only six months ago with 17 aircraft. The airline is planning to induct at least 50 new planes. Gender parity is a crucial component of Akasa’s growth strategy, with women comprising 37 per cent of the company’s workforce and one-third of the senior leadership positions held by women. With news of women hardly making any inroads into airline boardrooms and executive ranks in recent years, this comes as a welcome change.
