85-year-old study links teamwork with job satisfaction

One of the longest-running studies has linked work-life satisfaction to teamwork.

A Harvard study, which commenced in 1938 and has been interviewing several people since then has revealed that the unhappiest jobs are the loneliest ones.

The study, which has quizzed over 700 people in over eight decades, has found that teamwork is important for productivity and employee morale.

News reports quoting the report mentioned that Robert Waldinger (MD), a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the director of the Harvard Study Of Adult Development, as saying, “If you are more connected to people, you feel more satisfied with your job, and do better work.”

He added that positive team interactions and teamwork enable a stress-free mind and mental well-being.

“Positive relationships at work lead to lower stress levels and fewer days when we come home upset,” explains Waldinger.

The study also throws light on the need to look at developing workplace bonds in realms like tech, food delivery, and online retail services, where workers function in complete isolation.
