50% of employees facing burnout: Report

A Microsoft study says that 50% of workers are facing burnout. The study that surveyed at least 20,000 workers from across 11 countries in July-August this year has found that while 50% of the workers reported feeling disengaged, burnout, and overworked, 53% of managers said they felt burned out.

Even as 90% of the workers felt they were productive at work, 85% of the bosses said that hybrid work made them uncertain about the productivity levels of their employees, said a news report by CNBC.

Calling it productivity paranoia, the report says that this is about considering in-person work more productive than in the remote or hybrid model, even as employees are working more than ever. While this exacerbates stress and burnout, it makes hybrid working unsustainable.

The report calls for the following action:

  • End productivity paranoia
  • Embrace the fact that people come in for each other
  • Re-recruit your employees
